We will be holding a parent information evening on Monday the 5th March at 5.30pm in Hawthorn class to provide information about the end of KS2 statutory assessment tests (SATs). The PowerPoint will be put on the website for parents who can’t attend.
Welcome to the Hawthorn Class Webpage. Our teacher is Miss Long and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Davidson. Year six is a busy, challenging and fun year with lots of great opportunities ahead.
Please do not hesitate to speak to the team if you have any concerns. Meetings can be arranged by contacting the office or speaking to Miss Long at the end of the school day.
Please look below for letters and PPTs for parent meetings / information as well as information about our topics, copies of homework letters and some helpful documents about the year six grammar expectations. In addition, please see the prospectus-curriculum- maths section for information about the mathematical calculations and methods your children will be learning.
Reading at home
Please encourage your children to read regularly, both aloud to an adult and to themselves. All reading done can be recorded in their reading record to work towards the 30 book award. There are some suggested reading lists below as well as a selection of books available to loan from ‘Miss Long’s library’ in the classroom. School library books are available on loan (don’t forget about the village libraries too). Also in the classroom are topic displays / books for the children to use.E-Reading is very important in this modern age and I highly recommend reading for research on screen as well as in books. Here is a great, website where there are 18 free
e-books for ages 9-11 years. www.oxfordowl.co.uk
